Taylor Swift - Mean Music Video

Taylor Swift - Mean artworkLast Octerber, Taylor Swift released her third studio album 'Speak Now'. The album was very successful as it debuted with the year's biggest sales at 1.04 million. The song I'm going to introduce today is just from this album; it's 'Mean'. Last week, music video of 'Mean' was released. Both the song and the music video have received mainly positive reviews. Lots of fans think that it's the best video of hers since 'You Belong with Me'.

The music video of 'Mean' is here. You can also go to YouTube Taylor Swift VEVO's Channel to watch the clip. You can download it to your computer or smart phone with this YouTube Downloader program, so that you can watch it off-line.

Just as Billboard's review to the video, it 'encourages bully victims'. There are several bully victims in the video: Swift herself tied to the tracks by a villain, the boy reading a fashion magazine bullied by the football team in a locker room, the girl with a fast-food uniform bullied by a group of high schoolers, and the girl forced to eat in the school bathroom. In the end, all the bullied victims become 'big enough' and not be bullied any more.

I appreciate the theme of the video. It encourages people who are being bullied or discriminated that: don't give up, just hold up, as you're right and you will be successful in the end.

Good song and adorable video. 'Mean' was released on October 17, 2010, solely written by Swift herself. The music video premiered on May 6, 2011 and was directed by Declan Whitebloom.

Taylor Swift - Mean lyrics

You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me,
You, have knocked me off my feet again,
Got me feeling like I'm nothing.
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard
Calling me out when I'm wounded.
You, pickin' on the weaker man.

Well you can take me down,
With just one single blow.
But you don't know, what you don't know,

Someday, I'll be living in a big old city,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides,
And your walk by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again,
As if I don't already see them.
I walk with my head down,
Trying to block you out cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again.

I bet you got pushed around,
Somebody made you cold,
But the cycle ends right now,
You can't lead me down that road,
You don't know, what you don't know

Someday, I'll be, living in a big old city,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?

And I can see you years from now in a bar,
Talking over a football game,
With that same big loud opinion but,
Nobody's listening,
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things,
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing.

But all you are is mean,
All you are is mean.
And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life,
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday, I'll be, living in a big old city,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so ?
Someday, I'll be, living in a big old city,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me,
And all you're ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?
